The End of Existence

1. The End of Existence

Sexual fantasy often stems from early maternal deprivation. The idealized yet forbidden figure replaces the inconsistent mother, creating a desire that feels both sacred and dangerous.
Dreaming of Transference

2. Dreaming of Transference

In dreams, unconscious needs transfer onto new figures. This symbolic process reflects unresolved attachments and the search for the ideal caregiver within imagined spaces.
An Unstable Transference

3. An Unstable Transference

Without emotional grounding, transference becomes fragile. The fantasy cracks under unmet needs, repeating early wounds of longing and disappointment.
Fading by Pain

4. Fading by Pain

When a fantasy collapses, it reactivates old trauma. The emotional pain lingers, blurring the line between reality and imagination, and leaving unresolved traces behind.

Fantasy and Psychoanalysis: A Mixed Media Exploration

This series investigates the interplay between unconscious desire, maternal dynamics, and the psychoanalytic processes that shape emotional experience and relational patterns. Anchored in theories of fantasy, transference, and object relations, the work explores how attraction often emerges not from the present moment, but from internalized histories of unmet needs and early attachments.

Each of the four images combines staged digital photography with oil painting, merging visual realism with symbolic distortion. Drawing on art historical reference including Botticelli, Dalí, Kahlo, and O’Keeff the series blurs the line between the external subject and the internal object, between the actual and the imagined.

The woman represented becomes a transitional figure: at once an external muse and a projection of the idealized maternal imago. Through surreal compositions and psychodynamic metaphors, the work examines how unresolved early relationships can manifest as intense adult longing, filtered through the lens of fantasy.

By visualizing themes such as forbidden desire, unstable transference, and the painful dissolution of psychic illusions, this project reflects a broader inquiry into how our internal world formed in the crucible of early emotional life continues to structure our experiences of love, loss, and identity.
